The NCRA's 2009 Annual Report reviews NCRA activity and services in the 2008-09 year, celebrates our great success in recruitment, recognizes our gracious funders, and depicts our financial transition and search for new funding sources. NCRA members community radio supporters can learn a lot here about the NCRA and our future.
We've distributed hard copies to our supporters and other stakeholders. Please contact the national office for a copy of the report if we missed you!
The NCRA released this copyright pamphlet in 2009 to explain the needs and position of campus and community radio in light of the Government of Canda's plans to reform the Copyright Act.
The disAbilities Handbook was sparked by an idea from Stephane Bertrand at CKUT-FM in Montreal. At the 2009 National Campus and Community Radio Conference in Montreal, he helped host a panel on accessibility and community radio that featured people from his show, The Avalanche, and other people with disabilities from across the country. The session was packed and almost everyone had questions and stories from their own stations.
Later that week, he suggested creating a handbook (with an accompanying audio handbook — we are radio people after all) that would help support this important work. We scraped together some money, held a planning and production weekend in Ottawa, found Steffanie Pinch, our editor, funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program, formed an editorial committee (thanks to Paul Daniel, Rebecca Robb and David Robbins-Singh,) and now three years after Stephane first thought it up: you’re looking at the result!
