Part-Time Volunteer Coordinator

CJLO is a Campus/Community radio station based out of Concordia University's Loyola campus in NDG. CJLO belongs to the not-for-profit Concordia Student Broadcasting Corporation (CSBC), and represents Concordia University and its community. CJLO has been broadcasting on the Internet for several years and in 2008 began broadcasting on 1690 AM throughout the Montreal area with 1000 watts of power. We are currently working with over 80 volunteer members and broadcasting a wide variety of musical genres and spoken-word content.

We are looking for a dynamic and passionate individual to help manage CJLO’s greatest resource: our volunteers! As a volunteer coordinator, you will report directly to CJLO staff, and will be responsible for a range of tasks, from finding volunteers to DJ at CJLO events both on campus and in the community, to recruiting new station members.


Coordinating CJLO volunteer members;
Acting as the point person between staff, executives and interested volunteers to form and maintain various teams as needed (Fundraising, Promotions, Remote Broadcasts, DJing on Campus and in the Community, Production, News, etc.);
Coordinating new members for training with staff and exec;
Tracking and filing documentation related to volunteer intake and training, including application forms, training checklists, and volunteer agreements, and data entry into the station's membership database;
Assisting CJLO staff and exec with scheduling of volunteer members and assist with or offer training if needed;
Continually finding volunteer opportunities for new and old CJLO members alike, that are well-suited to their varying skills and comfort level;
Working closely with the Campus Outreach coordinator to recruit new volunteers on campus, facilitate tabling and DJ events, and to give occasional classroom presentations;
Recruiting new volunteers from the community;
Developing incentives to help encourage extra volunteer hours from CJLO members;
Track individual volunteer hours;
Attending CJLO Executive meetings & events.



Impeccable interpersonal, organizational and communication skills;
Excellent team building and team leadership skills;
The ability to work independently and in a communal volunteer environment;
Regular access to the internet;
Ability to multi-task and coordinate schedules;
Must be available up to 10 hours per week until early May and 30 hours per week until August 26th, including the occasional evening and/or weekend.


Experience or interest with campus and community radio broadcasting;
Bilingual English & French spoken and written;
Event planning experience;
Experience with data entry and database management;
Recruiting experience;
Experience managing a volunteer organization and/or volunteers;
Familiarity with CJLO and campus-community radio.
