The NCRA/ANREC Board of Directors is conducting a By-Election in order to fill THREE vacant positions on our board. This notice is intended to fulfill bylaw 1.25(a)(i)., which requires that the board notify NCRA members within 30 days of a board seat becoming vacant, and that a by-election is held at least 60 days after publication of this notice.
This By-Election will be held because three board members have resigned. All eligible member stations are encouraged to consider nominating a suitable person. The seats will carry a 2-year term, expiring at NCRC 2011.
Participation in the by-election as a candidate: To participate as a candidate in this by-election, you must complete the Board Nomination questions below and submit all relevant materials as outlined in this notice by Monday, November 23rd, 2009. At that time, all nominations will be redistributed by email to all NCRA Member stations, along with voting details.
The election will be held by email or fax on Monday, January 4th, 2010. 2009/2010 term Board Composition requirements:
1. No one station can have more than one representative on the NCRA/ANREC Board, with the exception of the Native seat. Stations currently represented on the NCRA Board of Directors are: CFUV, Victoria BC CHUO, Ottawa ON CKUT, Montreal QC CiTR, Vancouver BC CJTR, Regina SK
2. Regional Representation: The existing board represents four of our six regions of Canada, thus fulfilling the Association's regional requirements as outlined in section 1.17 of our by-laws. Even though our minimum requirements for regional representation have been met, we particularly encourage candidates from the two remaining regions to consider candidacy for the vacant seat. Regions currently represented on our board are Pacific, Prairie, Ontario, and Quebec. Regions not currently represented are Atlantic Canada (NB, Nfld, NS, and PEI) and Northern Canada (Nunavut, NWT, and Yukon).
3. Gender Representation: The requirements outlined in section 1.17 of the NCRA by-laws is that the Board of Directors be composed of at least 50% women. In order to meet this requirement, at least one of the three vacant positions must be filled by a woman.

3. Can you contribute the time necessary to be an effective board member (5 to 10 hours per month, sometimes more, including viewing monthly reports, participating in email discussions, monthly conference calls, committee work, and occasional in person meetings)?
4. Do you have skills to contribute? Please provide a statement outlining your skills and experiences that can be sent to the membership in the body of an email. Please note that a wide variety of skills can contribute to a board.
