Shelley first heard community radio when she moved to Halifax at 16 and stumbled across CKDU on the FM dial. Three years later she and a friend had a show early on Wednesday mornings called "Anecdotal Evidence". Eight years after that, she was Station Coordinator there and joined the Board of the NCRA. She has also worked in community media in Northern Ireland (Citywide), Afghanistan (Radio Rabia Balkhi) and Rwanda (Radio Salus). Shelley was the NCRA's Membership Coordinator from December 2008-April 2010 and has been the Executive Director since then.
